KING'S CORNER
Graphic Design | Packaging & Branding | Fall 2015
The challenge was to create a package with a function that served beyond housing its contents. This project directly utilizes the game known as “Kings in the Corner,” a multiplayer version of solitaire, both in themes and functional objective. It is comprised of three parts: a sleeve to hold a deck of cards, the cards themselves, and an insert that acts as a lid which unfolds into a playing mat.
Brand Expansion
Also featured is a cleaner redesign for a brand expansion exercise that takes the original project and turns it into a signature collateral item for a themed-restaurant business concept. This second version is simplified and straightforward, with the mat no longer serving an important, functional or necessary aspect of the project—the cards and brand mark now takes central focus. The new logo and typeface exudes a friendlier, approachable appearance to reflect the goals of the brand expansion.
